The Hong Kong
PhD Fellowship Scheme is launched by the Research Grants Council (RGC)
of Hong Kong. The Fellowship Scheme aims to attract the outstanding
students in the world (including those from Hong Kong and Mainland
China) to pursue their PhD degree programmes in Hong Kong.
The Fellowship
will provide an annual stipend of HK$240,000 (approximately US$30,000)
and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000
(approximately US$1,300) per year for a maximum period of three years.
135 PhD Fellowships will be awarded for the 2010 / 2011 academic year.
A local
briefing session on the Scheme was held at Wei Hing Theater of City
University of Hong Kong on September 14, 2009. The RGC is going to
organise information sessions in the following overseas countries.
Chairman of the RGC and representatives of the UGC-funded institutions
will introduce the Scheme to the participants and respond to the
enquiries regarding the Fellowship Scheme as well as PhD programmes
offered by institutions. Some of these sessions are open to the
public. All interested parties are welcome to attend:
